If it were me, I would go to this link: http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/. I would search on five star helmets. I would buy any one of them that a) fit the best and b) I was willing to pay the tariff, and c) I liked the looks of. I personally have never even tried on an AGV. I like the fit of Sharks but note that opening you look through can feel a touch small. I wear Suomy and like them. I hope that helps.

Hey, there! Thanks for the article. I have some question to get this right: If I understand well you are saying that if I only matter about safety I should choose Ti-tech instead of rx-7 corsair, right? Also, what about gp-tech, is it just like Ti concerning safety only? And lastly, what about rx-7 gp, which meets SNELL M2010 standard? I mean agv's top helmets are still better if I only look for safety? Straight answer please, not lots of words, I'm trying to make a decision here and in the meantime I have no helmet at all! :P Thanks for your time in advance, George...

Hi, I hate to admit it, but I have been riding since I was 6 years old. I am 36 now and have dropped my bike for the first time ever . . . TWO TIMES in the last year (ouch). Both accidents where under 30mph. The first one my head acted like a whip and I smacked my face into the asphalt. I'm glad I was wearing a full face helmet. I was wearing a CABERG JUSTISSIMO (which was DOT certified). Caberg is currently not exporting to the US, so that is why nowdays you only find non-DOT certified Helmets. In the first Accident the Caberg which is a modular "flip-up" helmet looks like it was in a war. The front of the helmet has large gashes and gouges where it smacked the asphalt and was grinded face first into the road. NOTHING happened to my face, neck, or head. Minor scraps and bruises on the rest of my lower body. I was sore, but safe thanks to always wearing protective riding gear. A few weeks ago I dropped another bike. This time I was wearing another modular helmet mad by ZOX. Smacked the side of my head into concrete. Minor nicks in the outer helmet, but the inner plastics and foams broke. Once again I my nugget is fine. Incidentally I did break a rib this time. I am in the military and stationed in Italy . . . so to replace this helmet I have gone back with a Caberg (they are locally manufactured and sold in Italy). Great Helmet, no fog issues, full face protection, Dual visors, internal one is smoked and flips up and down. The outer visor is clear. Removable pads, and a simple "click-buckle" lock instead of D rings to secure the helmet in place. I am a fan and believer in full face helmets and can attest to the quality of Caberg. Ride safe, Ride smart, and enjoy life.

Thanks for your good words. I've worn my Z1R about five times. It's not bad but not on the same level as the Suomy by a long way. I've looked at Caberg and like them. The two things to point out about modulars is that they are heavier, and I personally hate that (neck ache), and they're worthless if they're opened up.

Great article. Very comprehensive, and you touched base on a lot of issues people should be aware of. I actually own a Z1R, but I'm not a big fan. I'm trying to buy a Caberg, although they're not DOT approved, I feel like they make a quality helmet. Don't scoff at me for buying a flip up though. I've read lots of account of failures, but likely just as many of the flip up working fine. Who knows..
