Drive By Review: Suomy Extreme follow up

August 26th, 2007 · No Comments

A few weeks ago I reported on my first impressions of the Suomy Extreme helmet. Just to complete the record . . .

I’ve worn this lid now for about 3000 miles. I finally bought cheek-pads for an XL which solved the tight problem I was having. Everything I said before is true but now more nuanced.

  • It’s a very light helmet and once you’ve got it fit properly, it’s a real pleasure to wear all day. Towards that end, I bought a different set of cheek pads to give me just a bit more room. Ten hours riding later, I really notice the difference between this and my RF1000. The ounces matter.
  • It’s loud. You absolutely must wear ear plugs.
  • Changing the screens is fiddly. I’ve done it many times now and it’s still a PITA.
  • It absolutely does not fog. Period.
